MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Tuesday broke the typical departure ceremony format and delivered a status report on the current damage that Aghon (international name, Ewiniar) has caused, as well as the government’s response.
According to the President, 26,726 persons have been affected by the typhoon, with the government released P1.35 million in response with an additional P607.9 million on standby.

MANILA, Philippines — Tropical cyclone wind signals were lifted across the country on Tuesday morning, as Typhoon Aghon (international name: Ewiniar) continues to move further away from the Philippine land mass.
According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) in its latest typhoon advisory, Aghon was last located 315 kilometers east of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan.

MANILA, Philippines — The national government has allotted up to P3 billion for relief efforts in areas affected by Typhoon “Aghon” (international name: Ewiniar), President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said on Monday.
The President said the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) had already extended humanitarian assistance worth P1.2 million to residents displaced by the storm as it swooped down Luzon over the weekend, following its landfall in Eastern Samar on May 24.
Aghon moves away from Luzon; only two areas under Signal No. 1

MANILA, Philippines — The center of Aghon was estimated at 240 kilometers (km) east northeast of Casiguran, Aurora or 250 km east of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan, packing maximum sustained winds of 140 kilometers per hour (km/h) with gustiness of up to 170 km/h, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration’s (Pagasa) 11 p.m. update.
To date, only Aurora and the eastern portion of Isabela remain under Signal No. 1, where 39 to 61 kilometers km/h wind speed, that causes minimal to minor threat to life and property, are expected.
Typhoon Aghon kills 5 persons, says OCD

MANILA, Philippines — Five people were reported dead due to Typhoon Aghon (international name: Ewiniar), the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) said on Monday.
Of these fatalities, OCD said four were from Calabarzon and the other one was from Northern Mindanao.
Seven people were also found to be injured due to the typhoon.

LUCENA CITY — A 7-month-old baby boy drowned and two others died Sunday after they were hit by falling trees in Quezon province at the height of Severe Tropical Storm Aghon (international name: Ewiniar).
The Quezon police reported Monday that four fishermen spotted around 11 a.m. the floating body of the baby in the waters off Barangay Ilayang Polo in Pagbilao town.

MANILA, Philippines — Severe Tropical Storm “Aghon” (international name: Ewiniar) intensified on Sunday off the eastern coast of the Philippines, threatening provinces in northern Luzon region with fierce winds, heavy rain and coastal flooding, according to the national weather agency.
In its 5 p.m. bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Aghon had maximum sustained winds of 95 kilometers per hour (km/h) with gusts up to 130 km/h as of 4 p.m. Sunday. MANILA, Philippines — Almost 7,000 passengers were stranded in various seaports in the country on Saturday as the state weather bureau hoisted tropical cyclone signals in at least 17 areas across the Philippines due to Tropical Depression “Aghon.”
The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) reported in a maritime safety advisory on Saturday that a total of 6,833 passengers were stranded in seaports with 2,755 individuals stuck in the Eastern Visayas region, 1,997 in Bicol, 1,081 in Southern Tagalog, 695 in Central Visayas and 305 in Northeastern Mindanao.

Gaining both speed and strength, Aghon was moving west-northwestward at 25 kilometers per hour (kph), with maximum sustained winds now at 55 kph and gustiness of up to 70 kph. Pagasa said Aghon is forecast to move generally west-northwestward from Friday until Saturday while slowly intensifying. It expected to make landfall in the Eastern Visayas Saturday morning. Pagasa said Aghon could strengthen into a severe tropical storm by Sunday morning, then into a typhoon by Monday. LEGAZPI CITY — As the Bicol region braces for intense rain due to Tropical Depression (TD) Aghon, officials here have identified 1,128 villages from 52 cities and municipalities that are under “moderate” to “very high” threats of landslides.

MANILA, Philippines — Tropical Depression Aghon slightly strengthened as the number of areas under Tropical Cyclone Signal No. 1 rose to 18 on Friday afternoon.

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal number one is up over Eastern Samar, Dinagat Islamds, Siargao Island and Bucas Grande Islands after the low-pressure area (LPA) east of Surigao del Sur intensified into Tropical Depression Aghon, the state weather bureau reported early Friday morning.
In its 4:00 a.m. bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the eye of Aghon was spotted some 340 kilometers east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur, packing maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of 55 kph while moving west-northwest at 30 kph.
