Ample stocks of food packs for those affected by Aghon, DSWD assures
MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said on Friday that it has high stocks of family food packs (FFP) for those who may be affected by Tropical Depression Aghon.

As of this writing, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) has placed 18 areas under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1.

Luzon

“The DSWD Field Office 8 (Eastern Visayas) has a stockpile of 11,363 boxes of FFPs while the CARAGA Regional Office has 32,000 FFPs prepositioned in Surigao del Norte and the Dinagat Islands,” DSWD Assistant Secretary Irene Dumlao said in a statement.
The DSWD added that more than 199,000 FFP boxes are in the National Resource and Logistics Management Bureau’s National Resource Operations Center and more than 60,200 FFPs are stored in Cebu City.

As of 2:00 pm, data from the Pagasa said that the tropical depression had maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center, and gusts of up to 70 kph.
It was also moving west-northwestward at 25 kph and may make landfall over Eastern Visayas on Saturday as a tropical storm.
