MANILA, Philippines — Less than 500 new COVID-19 cases were logged in Metro Manila on Friday, a fellow of the independent analytics group Octa Research said Saturday.

Citing data from the Department of Health, Guido David said that of the 3,788 fresh infections posted on February 11, only 486 were from Metro Manila — the lowest recorded daily tally for the year.

The new figure is lower than 600 fresh cases recorded in Metro Manila on February 10.

David said that the seven-day average daily attack rate (ADAR) is at 5.5 while COVID-19 reproduction number dropped to 0.22.

ADAR is the average number of new COVID-19 infections per 100,000 people.

The reproduction number, meanwhile, is the number of new cases caused by one infected person.

According to experts, the ideal reproduction number is less than one to indicate a decline in cases.
