PH’s new daily COVID-19 tally drop to just 3,788 cases
MANILA, Philippines — The number of daily COVID-19 cases further dropped to just 3,788 on Friday, bringing active infections to just 91,147.
In its latest tally, the Department of Health (DOH) also reported 5,652 new recoveries and 72 more deaths due to COVID-19 complications, raising the total recoveries to 3,484,636 and fatalities to 54,854, respectively.
The country has so far confirmed 3,630,637 cases of the respiratory disease since 2020.
Friday’s new COVID-19 cases were lower than the 4,575 additional infections recorded on Thursday. The number of new cases was also over 3,000 last Tuesday and Wednesday.
The DOH also reported a 14.7 percent positivity rate out of 32,795 individuals who got themselves tested last Wednesday.
Article continues after this advertisementOf the active cases, 94.8 percent are either mild or asymptomatic. A total of 3,261 are asymptomatic, 83,145 are mild, 2,986 are moderate, 1,443 are severe, and 312 are critical.
Article continues after this advertisementAccording to DOH, 34 percent of intensive care unit (ICU) beds, 33 percent of isolation beds, and 30 percent of ward beds nationwide for COVID-19 patients are currently in use. In Metro Manila, 24 percent of ICU beds, 29 percent of isolation beds, and 28 percent of ward beds are currently being used.
The DOH said all testing laboratories were operational on Wednesday and only one laboratory was not able to submit its data on time.
