MANILA, Philippines — Scattered rains and thunderstorms may be expected across southern Luzon and the Visayas due to the shear line, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) reported Saturday.

The shear line is the convergence of the easterly winds and the northeast monsoon, locally known as amihan.

The weather system will cause cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Visayas, Bicol Region, Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, and Romblon.

“Malaya pong makakalayag ‘yung mga kababayan nating mangingisda o ‘yung may maliliit na sasakyang pandagat, pwede po silang pumalaot,” Pagasa weather specialist Ezra Bulquerin said during the public weather forecast.

“For the next three days, wala naman po tayong ine-expect na sama ng panahon or LPA (low pressure area) na namumuo kaya fair weather condition pa rin po ‘yung ine-expect natin for the next three days dito sa Metro Manila,” continued Bulquerin.

(For the next three days, we are not expecting any weather disturbance or LPA brewing so a fair weather condition is expected for the next three days in Metro Manila.)
