CCP glows in yellow to honor late former President Noynoy Aquino

MANILA, Philippines — The Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) facade was illuminated with yellow light to remember and pay tribute to former President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino who died on Thursday.

“Yellow lights cloak the facade of the Cultural Center of the Philippines as the nation mourns the passing of former President Benigno Simeon ‘Noynoy’ C. Aquino III,” CCP said.

“The Center, along with its community of artists, creatives, and production staff, expresses thoughts of comfort and condolences to the grieving family, and to the Filipino nation,” it added.

CCP said that it would pause its Pride Lightning event to honor Aquino, as the yellow lights would be seen until Friday night.

Aquino died on Thursday morning due to renal disease secondary to diabetes.

Aquino’s term was remembered by his followers and allies for instituting anti-corruption policies, supporting reproductive health, and standing up against China’s intrusion in the West Philippine Sea.

Allies within LP and even former political opponents and current government officials also extended their sympathies to the bereaved family.
