Tropical Depression Maymay weakens into LPA in next 12 hours

Tropical Depression Maymay is expected to turn into a low-pressure area in the next 12 hours, the state meteorologist said on Wednesday.
“This tropical depression is forecast to deteriorate into a remnant low within the next 12 hours,” the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said in its 5 pm weather forecast.
Maymay’s center is located 190 kilometers east of Casiguran, Aurora, packing maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour (kph) with gustiness up to 55 kph.

Fisherman found dead amid Tropical Depression Maymay onslaught in Cagayan province

The body of a fisherman in Buguey town, Cagayan province, was recovered Tuesday, Oct. 11, hours after he went missing while venturing out into the sea as Tropical Depression Maymay spawned heavy rains across Cagayan Valley.
Ruelie Rapsing, head of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, identified the man as Marcial Pugal.
Pugal went fishing early Tuesday despite a gale warning and the no-fishing policy imposed on the province as a preemptive measure against the impact of Maymay.

Flood submerges houses, classrooms in Cagayan province

Flood inundated several houses and classrooms as Tropical Depression Maymay on Tuesday, Oct. 11, dumped heavy rains in low-lying villages in Allacapan town, Cagayan province.
Allacapan Mayor Harry Florida said the flooded villages include Bessang, Centro East, Centro West, Daan-Ili, Pacac, and Labben.
Florida said they have started distributing relief goods to the affected residents.

Tropical Depression Maymay may weaken into a low-pressure area (LPA) before making landfall, but another tropical depression may enter the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) on Thursday, state meteorologists said.
Maymay is almost stationary at 310 kilometers east northeast of Baler, Aurora, with maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 55 kilometers per hour, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

Hospitals and government health care workers in the Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) region were on “code white alert” since Tuesday to Sunday (October 11 to 16) in anticipation of the effects of Tropical Depression “Maymay,” according to the regional Department of Health (DOH).
“We have raised the alert status due to the forecast that ‘Maymay’ will make a landfall in the vicinity of Aurora or the northern portion of Quezon by tomorrow afternoon or evening,” Dr. Ariel Valencia, DOH-Calabarzon director, said in a statement issued on Tuesday night.

Tropical depression Maymay will trigger rains over parts of the Philippines as Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 1 remains hoisted in parts of Luzon on Wednesday, said the state weather bureau.
Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that Maymay is currently 305 kilometers east of Baler, Aurora, with maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour and gustiness of 55 kilometers per hour.

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 remains hoisted over several areas in Luzon as Tropical Depression “Maymay” lies almost stationary in the Philippine sea, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
According to Pagasa weather specialist Veronica Torres, Maymay “lies almost stationary” in the Philippine sea as it moved westward slowly toward Central Luzon.

Quezon province prepares for Tropical Depression Maymay

With the widespread devastation left by supertyphoon Karding (international name: Noru) in northern Quezon last month, the provincial government has tasked its disaster management office to prepare for the incoming tropical depression Maymay.
In a post on its Facebook page Tuesday, Oct. 11, the provincial government of Quezon said Gov. Angelina Tan had ordered the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (PDRRMC) to step up its readiness and monitoring in anticipation of Maymay’s entry into the province.
