MANILA, Philippines — Following several fire incidents this month, Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte has created a task force on fire prevention, which will work along with the City Council to craft a local Fire Safety Code.

FEATURED STORIES

Two successive fires recently occurred in Quezon City on a single day, costing the lives of three people, and injury to three others, while hundreds were rendered homeless.

Based on the Statistical Data report of QC Bureau of Fire Protection for the past 5 years the lead cause of the fire is electrical ignition, followed by open flames attributed either to unattended cooking or unattended candles.—Alyssa Joy Quevedo, trainee
