PNP on full alert on Independence Day, deploys 89,000 personnel
MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) has placed all its units on full alert status and will deploy 89,473 police officers and force multipliers nationwide for this year’s celebration of Independence Day.
In a statement on Thursday, the PNP said its full alert status will take effect at 5 p.m. on June 11 until 11:59 p.m. on June 12.

The full alert status, the highest level of operational readiness within the police force, is intended to ensure continuous deployment capability, rapid response, and sustained security coverage during Independence Day activities.
“This ensures continuous deployment readiness, quick response capability, and sustained security coverage throughout the Independence Day observance,” the PNP said.
According to the PNP, 77,020 police officers, 1,975 personnel from support units, and 10,478 force multipliers will be deployed across the country.
Around 16,000 will be deployed in the National Capital Region.
“These personnel are strategically assigned to key locations including Rizal Park (Luneta), historic monuments, government facilities, transport terminals, major thoroughfares, and identified public gathering areas where large crowds are expected,” the PNP said.

On Thursday, PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said the tightened security measures will cover the Senate in Pasay City and the House of Representatives in Quezon City, citing “possible protest actions in relation to the current political situation.”
Despite the heightened security posture, Nartatez said authorities have not monitored any validated threat against this year’s Independence Day celebrations.
“We trust our commanders and personnel for real-time security adjustments based on threat assessments, intelligence gathering and situation on the ground,” Nartatez said.
The heightened preparations come after Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla met with top police officials last week to discuss security arrangements for Independence Day and President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s fifth State of the Nation Address next month.
