No work in Metro Manila courts during papal visit

MANILA, Philippines–Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno declared January 15, 16 and 19, the schedule of Pope Francis’ visit in the country as a special non-working holiday for the National Capital Judicial Region.

Under Administrative Order No. 02-2015, Sereno required executive judges to maintain a skeletal force in their areas including the Clerk of Court.

She also ordered the Office of the Court Administrator headed by Jose Midas Marquez to create a guideline particularly on overtime and holiday pay based on existing laws.

Also covered by the order are the Supreme Court, Court of Appeals, Court of Tax Appeals and the Sandiganbayan. No skeletal force is force is required for them.
