Rain to drench most of PH on Wed (Nov. 27) due to amihan, ITCZ
MANILA, Philippines — Overcast skies and rains will affect most parts of the country on Wednesday due to the northeast monsoon or amihan and the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
In a morning weather forecast, Pagasa weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio reported that the ITCZ will continue to affect most areas in Mindanao.
Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon will influence the weather in certain parts of northern Luzon, Aurelio said.
“Inaasahan ang maulap na kalangitan na may mga kalat-kalat na pag-ulan at may kasamang thunderstorm sa Davao Region, Caraga, doon din sa Soccsksargen at sa mga lalawigan ng Basilan, Sulu at Tawi-Tawi,” Aurelio said in a morning forecast.
(Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are expected in the Davao Region, Caraga, Soccsksargen and the provinces of Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi.)

Aurelio likewise noted that the northeast monsoon will bring cloudy skies with rains in Cagayan Valley and the Cordillera Administrative Region.
“Sa araw na ito, inaasahan ang maulap na kalangitan na may mga kalat-kalat na pag-ulan sa Cagayan Valley at Cordillera,” he said.
(Today, cloudy skies with scattered rain showers are expected over Cagayan Valley and the Cordillera.)
“Samantala, ang lalabing bahagi ng Luzon ay patuloy ring makararanas ng fair weather, kung saan ay bahagyang maulap hanggang sa maulap ang kalangitan, maliban sa mga isolated na mga pag-ulan o yung sandaling pag-ulan,” he explained.
(Meanwhile, the rest of Luzon will continue to experience fair weather, with partly cloudy to cloudy skies, apart from isolated rainshowers or brief periods of rain.)
Metro Manila and the rest of the country are forecast to experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies, with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms caused by localized thunderstorms.
Pagasa warned the public that rough to very rough seas are expected along the coastal waters of Batanes, the northern portion of Cagayan, including the Babuyan Islands, and the northern portion of Ilocos Norte.
“Kaya paalala sa mga kababayan po natin na nagpaplanong pumalaot sa mga lugar nito ay bawal muna dahil sa matataas na alon na kung saan ang taas ng alon ay halos aabot ng limang metro,” Aurelio stated.
(We remind our fellow citizens who are planning to set sail in these areas that maritime activities are currently prohibited due to high waves, which can reach up to five meters.)
