Over P95M worth of cannabis seized in several anti-drug operations, says PNP
MANILA, Philippines — More than P95 million worth of marijuana plants were seized and uprooted in several provinces on Monday, said the Philippine National Police (PNP), with one operation leading to the arrest of two suspected drug peddlers.
According to the PNP in a report, most of the seized marijuana plants came from Barangay Dilimbayan and Maguing, Lanao del Sur, where operatives uprooted P32 million worth of fully-grown marijuana plants.
No caretakers, however, were identified to have been arrested during this operation.
Meanwhile, during an anti-drug operation, P25 million worth of marijuana plants were also uprooted and destroyed in Ngibat and Tinglayan, Kalinga province.
Two separate sets of marijuana plants were also discovered and destroyed in Bugnay, Kalinga one of which was worth P7 million, while the other a whopping P25 million after 125,000 fully grown plants were found on a 12,500 square meters patch of land.
Article continues after this advertisementAnother operation in Taytay, Rizal led to the arrest of two suspected drug peddlers, Marvic Curuelos and Wilfredo Perez. They were both identified as “high-value” individuals.

“Tulong-tulong tayo sa pagsugpo ng krimen. (Let’s beat crime together.) These intensified efforts against the cultivation of marijuana plants are proof that we are serious about eradicating this illegal business. We ask the community to remain vigilant so we can hand-in-hand fight criminality,” PNP Chief Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr. said.
