Teen caught trying to ship marijuana through courier firm
MANILA, Philippines — Police arrested a teenager in Quezon City on Monday morning after two security guards caught him trying to ship marijuana through a courier firm.
Members of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) seized 500 grams of marijuana worth P60,000 from the suspect, Clahy John De Quiroz, a 19-year-old resident of Bacoor, Cavite.
According to a QCPD report, De Quiroz tried to ship a parcel through a courier service in a mall on Commonwealth Avenue, Quezon City at 8:30 a.m.
A parcel handler, noticing something suspicious inside the parcel, approached the suspect, who then tried to flee.
Mall guards caught the suspect and reported the incident to police officers patrolling the area.

Article continues after this advertisementQuezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte commended the courier employee quickly reacting and alerting the guards.
“We thank the employee for immediately reporting to our security guards and reporting it to our police. This only shows the good relationship between our citizens and the police,” Belmonte said in Filipino.
The QCPD director, Brig. Gen. Nicolas Torre III, commended the mall guards for their vigilance and dedication to their duty.
“May this serve as an inspiration and may they be role models not only of their family but also of their co-workers,” Torre said.
