MANILA, Philippines — Another complaint has been lodged against National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-Elcac) spokesperson Lorraine Badoy for red-tagging Vice President Leni Robredo.

Groups that include Makabayan, Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas, Amihan National Federation of Peasant Women, and fishers’ group Pambansang Lakas ng Kilusang Mamamalakaya ng Pilipinas filed a complaint against Badoy before the Office of the Ombudsman on Wednesday.

They said they were disturbed by Badoy’s posts, which were presented as NTF-Elcac’s official statements, on March 14 and March 21 on Facebook.

“We were appalled and deeply disturbed on how Undersecretary Badoy-Partosa uses the resources of the government not only to wantonly red-tag, maliciously attack, and malign progressive individuals and groups but how she brazenly and publicly associates and links the presidential campaign of Vice President Maria Leonor S. Gerona-Robredo with the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP), among others,” the groups stated in their complaint.

Badoy, through a post on the NTF-Elcac Facebook page on March 14, told Robredo to stop denying alliance with communist insurgents.

In another post on the NTF-Elcac Facebook page on March 21, Badoy alleged that Robredo earned the endorsement of progressive groups like Kabataan, Alliance of Concerned Teachers, Bayan Muna, Anakpawis, and Gabriela after a series of negotiations with the CPP, New People’s Army, and National Democratic Front.

Badoy, however, said she is unfazed by these complaints and even described them as “foolishness” and “personally interesting.”
