NBI to probe conduct of its operatives in Ressa’s arrest
MANILA, Philippines — The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said on Tuesday it will investigate the conduct of some of its personnel during the arrest of Rappler chief executive officer Maria Ressa in the online news website’s office in Pasig City.
In a memorandum dated February 18, 2019, NBI Director Dante Gierran informed Justice Undersecretary Adrian Sugay that the Internal Affairs Division was directed to look into the conduct of certain NBI operatives when the arrest warrant was served last February 13.
