LOOK: Police join search for survivors at Itogon landslide site

Policemen have joined search and rescue efforts at a landslide area in Itogon, Benguet, where dozens of people are believed trapped.

Photos provided by the Cordillera Police Regional Office show officers at the site in Barangay Ucab, where a massive mudslide took place at the height of Typhoon “Ompong’s” onslaught on Saturday.

Earlier reports said miners took shelter in bunkhouses on a hillside in the area.  However, continuous rain and winds brought by Typhoon “Ompong” softened and eroded the land which fell on the buildings.
