Vice presidential aspirant Senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero wished his 2016 rival Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano well after the latter announced that he will seek the second highest national post on Tuesday.
Escudero, running mate of Sen. Grace Poe, described Cayetano as “capable” and “experienced.”
“He is capable, experienced, and has every right to offer himself and run for higher office. I wish him well,” Escudero said.
Escudero announced his vice presidential bid last Sept. 17, a day after Poe formally declared that she will run for president.
Without the official backing of Nacionalista Party (NP), Cayetano on Tuesday announced that he will run for vice president in 2016. His party-mates Senators Antonio Trillanes IV and Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. were also tipped to seek higher office next year.
