Sandra Cam slams DOJ for ignoring ‘small time’ whistleblowers
MANILA, Philippines—Whistle Blowers Association president Sandra Cam on Wednesday denounced the Department of Justice (DOJ) for neglecting “small time” whistleblowers who expose a crime or corruption issue.
Cam decried the unacceptable and unfair treatment of the government after four overseas Filipino workers who exposed the alleged sex-for-flight activities of some labor officials in the Middle East had been neglected by the government and not accepted under the Witness Protection Program (WPP).
“They were never under the Witness Protection Program of the DOJ,” Cam said in an interview on Inquirer Radio 990AM.
Cam denounced how the administration appeared to give special treatment to those who testify against its political enemies while ignoring “real” whistle-blowers like the four overseas workers, who expose anomalies among government officials.
She said the WPP of the DOJ is “double standard.”

She revealed that the sex-for-flight whistle blowers were given only a minimal amount of allowance from the government ranging from P200 to P650.
She added that government officials involved in the sex-for-flight scandal were only suspended and not relieved from their post.
She mentioned that after the mauling incident of actor Vhong Navarro, other important issues exposed by whistle blowers were ignored.
