Cloudy, wet Sunday in parts of Luzon; fair weather in the rest of PH
MANILA, Philippines — The shear line and the northeast monsoon or “amihan” will bring cloudy skies and rain to parts of Luzon while fair weather is expected in Metro Manila, the Visayas and Mindanao on Sunday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
In an early morning update, Pagasa weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said cloudy skies and rains are expected in Batanes and Babuyan Islands.
Flash floods and landslides are possible. due to moderate to at times heavy rains.
Meanwhile, many parts of Northern and Central Luzon will see cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and isolated thunderstorms due to the shear line, or the area where warm easterlies and cold northeast monsoon meet.

Fair weather forecast
“Ang nalalabing bahagi ng Luzon kasama rin ang buong Kabisayaan at Mindanao, aasahan ang maganda at maaliwalas na panahon ngayong araw. Pero may tsansa pa rin ng mga isolated na pag-ulan o mga biglaang buhos na ulan,” he said.
(The rest of Luzon, along with the entire Visayas and Mindanao, can expect fair and clear weather today. However, there remains a chance of isolated rainshowers or sudden downpours.)
He likewise noted that no low-pressure area is currently being monitored in and around the Philippine area of responsibility.
Rough seas alert!!!
Pagasa raised gale warnings over the seaboards of Batanes, Cagayan including Babuyan Island, Isabela, Ilocos Norte, Aurora, Northern Quezon, and the northern and eastern coast of Puyo Island.
“Kaya paalala na huwag muna pumalaot sa mga lugar na ito dahil sa matataas na alon, kung saan ang taas ng alon ay aabot ng hanggang limang metro,” Aurelio said.
(Refrain from setting sail in these areas due to rough seas, with waves reaching up to five meters high.)
