Aquino finds Ruby Tuason testimony valuable
MANILA, Philippines —President Benigno Aquino III on Wednesday said he finds Ruby Tuason’s testimony valuable, especially since she detailed how the kickbacks from government projects changed hands.
“Perhaps what is important is that she was able to pinpoint…in her personal narration, how she received the money, to whom did she deliver it and to whom it went,” he told media at the sidelines of an event in Manila.
But Aquino said Tuason’s testimony will mostly matter when she is presented at court, since the Senate probe is only in aid of legislation.
He said it will be up to state prosecutors to elicit information from her. Aquino pointed out that there are also testimonies from whistleblowers and others who might testify in the future.
Aquino, who was not able to watch Tuason’s testimony at the Senate in full, was in Manila for the inspection of “micro” medium-rise buildings for urban poor communities.
