CVCCO, Gigi set up title duel in GAA caging
THE Cebu Vendors Credit Cooperative (CVCCO) ripped Calumpang, 98-85, to advance to the finals of the Guadalupe Athletics Association (GAA)-2013 Sinulog Cup basketball tournament at the Guadalupe Sports Complex, Cebu City.
CVCCO will face Gigi Catering Services in the championship this Sunday after the latter shocked defending champion ARN Builders.
CVCCO had a sluggish start resulting to a, 22-27 deficit in the first canto and 50-55 at the half.
However, CVCCO retaliated in the third with a, 21-16 rally led by Erwin Ferrer and Ed Pajuay to tie the score at 71-all heading to the final quarter.
CVCCO then outscored Calumpang, 27-14 in the fourth behind Andy Miñoza and power-forward Erwin Ferrer for the 13-point victory.
Erwin Ferrer led CVCCO with 16 points while Andy Miñoza and Ed Pajuay combined for 28 maarkers. Kenneth Montinola paced Calumpang with 15 points while Gilben Labiste and Louie Nercua added 13 markers each.
