Rains seen in Mindanao—Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines — An intertropical convergence zone in Mindanao is seen to bring rains in parts of the country, the state weather bureau said Tuesday.

Mindanao will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said in its 5a.m. bulletin.

Meanwhile, the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening, it added.

Leny Ruiz, weather forecaster, said that it is not rainy season yet and hot weather will still be experienced in parts of the country. On Monday, the highest temperature in Metro Manila was at 34.6 degrees Celsius.

He noted, however, that although the weather may be warm, it will no longer surpass the scorching temperatures in the past weeks.

Pagasa said light to moderate winds blowing from the southeast to south will prevail throughout the archipelago and the coastal waters will be slight to moderate.
