“As for the right of way concern in Phase 2 of LRT 1, 94 percent is already completed; we just need to finish the remaining six percent,” Bautista said in a mix of Filipino and English at the Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon briefing on Thursday

However, there will be changes in the alignment of Phase 2, which includes Las Piñas Station and Zapote Station, as the Department of Public Works and Highways is also set to build a flyover project in the area, affecting the stations’ alignment.

“So what our technical team is working on now is the new alignment. It won’t be too far off, but there may be possible additional costs,” Bautista said.

Bautista also recalled that the government’s private partners for the project responsible for the civil works have agreed to start construction of Phase 1 even before its right-of-way issue was 100 percent settled.

“Under the concession agreement, they should start once the right of way is 100 percent cleared,” he said.

“We told them, ‘You know, in Phase 1, you agreed to start construction even before the right of way was 100 percent cleared,’ so maybe now they’ll agree to start the project as well,” the official added.
