MANILA, Philippines — After weakening into a tropical depression on Monday morning, Kabayan (international name: Jelawat) has further downgraded into a low-pressure area (LPA), the state weather bureau reported.

In its latest cyclone update, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that it was last spotted in the vicinity of Cabanglasan, Bukidnon, around 3 p.m., moving northwestward at 25 kilometers per hour.

Kabayan weakens as it reaches Agusan del Sur Monday afternoon

MANILA, Philippines — Tropical Depression Kabayan (international name Jelawat) has further weakened as it accelerated west northwestward across southern Philippines, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on Monday afternoon.

In a 2 p.m. cyclone update, state meteorologists reported that Kabayan was last spotted in the vicinity of Loreto, Agusan del Sur with maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 75 kph while moving at the speed of 20 kph.

Kabayan makes landfall in Davao Oriental, weakens into tropical depression

MANILA, Philippines (Updated) — Tropical Storm Kabayan (international name: Jelawat) has weakened into a tropical depression as it made landfall in Manay, Davao Oriental, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) reported on Monday morning.

In its 11 a.m. cyclone update, Pagasa said Kabayan is almost stationary within the vicinity of Caraga, Davao Oriental. It carries maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour (kph) with gusts of up to 90 kph.

State geologists said the magnitude 4.4 tremor occurred at 4:33 a.m. 94 kilometers northeast of Cagwait.

MANILA, Philippines — Parts of Davao Oriental may experience power outage as one 69 kilovolt (kv) transmission line that supplies power to the area is down, National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) said on Monday.

In a 10 a.m. update on the condition of its power lines amid Tropical Storm Kabayan, NGCP reported Bislig-Baganga 69 kv Line 1 is off despite being partially energized at 6:51 a.m.

MANILA, Philippines — The number of persons affected by the shear line and Tropical Storm Kabayan (international name: Jelawat) has reached over 6,000, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said Monday.

In its 8 a.m. report, NDRRMC reported the weather systems have so far affected 6,723 people or 2,190 families residing in 43 barangays in the Caraga region.

Kabayan was last seen 275 kilometers east of Davao City while accelerating at the speed of 15 km per hour (kph), according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa)
