Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said because of the downpours from the tropical storm, rainfall warnings are up over some areas in Visayas and Mindanao.

A shear line also coincides with Tropical Storm Kabayan and is expected to bring heavy rainfall over the eastern portion of Southern Luzon.

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal Number 2 is still in effect in up to six areas in Mindanao, while Signal Number 1 is issued in 24 provinces in Visayas and Mindanao.

According to the weather bureau, Kabayan will likely make landfall as a tropical storm along the coast of Davao Oriental on Monday morning.

Then, it will cross the rugged terrain of Mindanao and emerge over the Sulu Sea between Monday afternoon and evening.

As it passes through Mindanao, Pagasa forecasts Kabayan will weaken into a tropical depression due to the frictional effects associated with landfall.
