PH logs 703 new COVID-19 infections; active cases down to 17,049
MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) on Wednesday recorded 703 new COVID-19 infections as active cases dropped further to 17,049.
With this, the country’s COVID-19 caseload is now at 4,028,187 nationwide, with 3,946,634 recoveries and 64,504 deaths.
The new infections are still lower than the average daily infections that were recorded from Nov. 14 to 20 at 1,296, as well as the documented cases on Tuesday at 695.
Metro Manila continues to lead the list of regions with the most COVID-19 cases in the past two weeks at 382 cases. It was followed by Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon) with 1,973 infections and the Western Visayas with 1,444.
In terms of individual areas with the most cases, Cavite now leads with 704 infections, beating Quezon City, which currently has 689, and Manila, with 495.
Article continues after this advertisementMeanwhile, 13,858 tests were conducted on Tuesday. The results of the tests will be reflected in the number of cases recorded on Thursday.
