Metro Manila, 8 other provinces show rise in COVID-19 positivity rate

MANILA, Philippines — Metro Manila’s COVID-19 cases rose slightly to 7.6 percent as of Nov. 19, from the previous week’s 7.5 percent, Octa Research fellow Guido David said on Monday.
Meanwhile, eight other provinces also recorded a rise in positivity rate, specifically, Cagayan, Camarines Sur, Cavite, Isabela, La Union, Negros Occidental, Rizal and Tarac.

The most notable spikes were recorded in Isabela, from 44.1 to 49.4 percent; La Union, from 15.8 to 20.7 percent; Rizal, 10.3 to 14.7 percent; and Tarlac, 30.3 to 37.7 percent.
Other areas, however, recorded a decrease in the positivity rate, with the most notable being Benguet, from 32.0 to 24.7; and Misamis Oriental, from 24.6 to 20.9 Tarlac.
The highest rate and lowest rate are currently Isabela and Batangas (5.1 percent), respectively.

Based on the DOH’s COVID-19 tracker as of Nov. 21, active COVID-19 infections are currently at 18,198.
