Active COVID-19 cases in Olongapo fall below 100-mark

The number of active COVID-19 cases here dropped for the 13th consecutive day, falling below the 100-mark on Sunday (Feb. 6), local data showed.

OLONGAPO CITY — The number of active COVID-19 cases here dropped for the 13th consecutive day, falling below the 100-mark on Sunday (Feb. 6), local data showed.

According to the city’s COVID-19 task force, 21 more patients recovered from the viral disease, bringing down to 197 the city’s number of active infections from 212 the previous day.

The number of COVID-19 recoveries here has already reached 6,374 out of the 6,908 total infections since the pandemic struck in 2020.

Data also showed that seven new COVID-19 cases were added to the city’s tally. The new patients include an 8-year-old boy from Barangay Barretto.

A 77-year-old woman has also died of COVID-19 complications, such as respiratory failure, cardiogenic shock and coronary artery heart disease. As of Monday, the city’s COVID-19 death stood at 337

The number of active COVID-19 cases here ballooned to over 600 on Jan. 21 or nearly a month after recording zero active infections. INQ
