NBI arrests Jordanian in Makati City over illegal possession of firearm
MANILA, Philippines — Agents of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) have arrested a Jordanian for illegal possession of a firearm and for harassing employees in a hotel in Makati City.
NBI Officer-In-Charge (OIC) Eric Distor identified the Jordanian as Tarek Siam.
Distor said in a statement Monday that the NBI first received a letter of complaint from a lawyer representing the Makati Hotel and Residences Condominium Corp., requesting law enforcement assistance after the suspect violently harassed hotel employees – even allegedly threatening several hotel security guards with a gun.
Following this complaint, NBI operatives also received a phone call from the management of the hotel on January 25, requesting immediate law enforcement assistance to avert the alleged violent acts being committed by the suspect inside the hotel premises.
The hotel management said that Siam was in possession of a handgun as he was destroying and breaking the hallway lights of the establishment’s 22nd floor. NBI operatives then immediately responded to the scene but upon arrival, the suspect was already back inside his room.
