Another Bilibid escapee dies in armed encounter with authorities
MANILA, Philippines — Another inmate who bolted the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) on Monday morning was killed in an armed encounter with authorities, the Muntinlupa City public information office (PIO) said.
According to the city PIO, Arwin Bio, 35, was killed during a continuous clearing operation of the Muntinlupa City Police Station in the Manila-Cavite Expressway at about 3:00 p.m. Monday.
The local government said that Bio died after a gunfight ensued between him and law enforcement agents.
“After a moment, one male person identified as Arwin Bio fell [to] the ground and instantaneously [died],” the PIO reported.
“Meanwhile, the elements of Muntinlupa CPS [are] still conducting follow-up [operations] for possible arrest of PDL Drakilou Yosores,” another prisoner who escaped NBP’s Maximum Security Compound.
Bio had been convicted of two counts of murder and frustrated murder.
He is the second inmate killed during pursuit operations after him, Yosores, 34, and Pacifico Villaruz, 49, escaped the NBP’s Maximum Security Compound at 1:20 a.m. Monday.
Villaruz was earlier killed during a joint operation of the Bureau of Corrections and the Philippine National Police in Magdaong area, a residential compound within NBP in Muntinlupa City.
