PDL who escaped New Bilibid Prison dies — Muntinlupa police

One of the persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) who escaped the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) early Monday died, the Muntinlupa police said.

MANILA, Philippines — One of the persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) who escaped the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) early Monday died, the Muntinlupa police said.

Pacifico Villaruz, 49, was killed during a joint operation of the Bureau of Corrections and the Philippine National Police in Magdaong area, the Muntinlupa public information office said.

Magdaong is a residential compound inside the NBP.

Meanwhile, two police guards were hit during the operation.

Villaruz had been convicted of frustrated homicide and violation of Section 15 Article II of Republic Act No. 9165 with a pending homicide case.

Aside from Villaruz, two other inmates escaped the NBP’s Maximum Security Compound at 1:20 a.m. The other suspects are: Arwin Bio and Drakilou Yosores.

NBP officers said that the three PDLs left their dorm cells by “sawing [off] the grilled bars of their window.”
