31% of Olongapo residents vaccinated vs COVID-19

OLONGAPO CITY — At least 57,042 people in this city have already been inoculated against COVID-19, representing 31 percent of the city’s target population that is eligible for the vaccine.
Based on the latest record of the city health office, 41,823 of this number received their first dose of the vaccine while 15,219 have been fully vaccinated.
The city needs to vaccinate 182,000 of its 260,000 population to achieve herd immunity.
Healthcare workers have been administering Sinovac, AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Sinopharm and the single-dose Janssen vaccines made by Johnson & Johnson to the vaccine recipients.
Dr. Rodrick Bustamante, city health officer, said the two vaccine sites in the city would help speed up the mass vaccination here.
On Wednesday, at least 2,000 more vaccine recipients were accommodated at the SMX Convention Center of SM Olongapo Central, the city’s main vaccine site.
About 1,000 more were expected to be vaccinated on the same day at the Rizal Triangle covered court, which caters to essential workers such as market vendors and drivers.
