LUCENA CITY — Two people were injured when a Bicol-bound cargo truck fell into a 30-foot ravine in Atimonan town as Severe Tropical Storm Jolina (international name Conson) pummelled Quezon province early Wednesday.

Atimonan police reported that the ten-wheeler truck was negotiating a sharp curve along the descending portion of the diversion road in Barangay (village) Malinao Ilaya around 7 a.m. when its driver, Bernie Laurena, accidentally lost control of the vehicle.

The wayward vehicle smashed the concrete barriers on the side of the road and consequently fell off the cliff on the right side of the highway, police said.

The driver and his helper, Marvin Dades, both sustained injuries and were taken to Doña Marta Memorial District Hospital at the town center for treatment.
