PDP-Laban Cusi wing names Rep. Lopez as Manila mayoral candidate

MANILA, Philippines — The Partido Demokratiko Pilipino–Lakas ng Bayan (PDP–Laban) wing led by Energy Sec. Alfonso Cusi on Thursday named Manila 1st district Rep. Manuel Lopez as its mayoral candidate next year.
PDP-Laban, in a statement, said it was President Rodrigo Duterte himself who proclaimed Lopez’s run in the Manila mayoral race.
Lopez currently chairs the House Committee on Metro Manila Development.
The PDP-Laban Cusi wing also recently announced that President Duterte is its candidate for vice president in the coming elections.
The party’s other faction, led by Sen. Manny Pacquiao, recently elected Sen. Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III as its new chairman, replacing Duterte.
Both sides have submitted documents to the Commission on Elections for recognition.
