MANILA, Philippines — Thirty seven percent of Filipinos are optimistic that their quality of life will improve in the next 12 months, a recent Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey showed.

Of the 1,200 adults surveyed from June 23 to 26, 2021, 37 percent said their quality of life will improve, 7 percent said it will worsen, 42 percent said it will stay the same in the next 12 months.

“The June 2021 Net Personal Optimism score is 6 points above the high +24 in May 2021, but 5 points below the very high +35 in November 2020,” the SWS said.

“Still, the last three surveys show a continuing recovery from historic lows of -19 in May 2020 and -10 in July 2020,” it added.

The SWS attributed the six-point rise in the national net personal optimism to the increases in Balance Luzon and Metro Manila, and steady scores in Visayas and Mindanao.

The conduct of the survey coincided with the loosening of quarantine restrictions in Metro Manila following an increase in its COVID-19 cases.
