Funeral Mass held for former president Noynoy Aquino
MANILA, Philippines — A funeral mass is being held in Quezon City on Saturday for the late former president Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III.
The mass is being celebrated at the Church of the Gesu at the Ateneo de Manila University and presided by Archbishop Socrates Villegas.
According to a funeral bulletin, the urn of the former president will be brought to the Manila Memorial Park in Sucat, Paranaque City for inurnment next to his parents—former Senator Benigno Aquino Jr. and former President Corazon Aquino.
The convoy carrying Aquino’s urn will take the C5-Road and the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) on its way to Manila Memorial Park.
Those who wish to pay their final respects along the route of the convoy are asked to observe proper health protocols, the funeral bulletin states.
Aquino died in his sleep on Thursday morning. His death certificate indicates that the cause of his death was renal disease secondary to diabetes. He was 61.
