Technical issues hamper 1st day of online national ID registration

Registration for National ID system: 3 steps you need to follow

MANILA, Philippines – The first day of the online registration for the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) was met by technical difficulties, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) on Friday said.

In an advisory, the PSA said their technical team is figuring out the source of the problem and will provide updates as soon as their website is up and running.

“We are currently experiencing technical difficulties. Our technical team is currently figuring out the source of the problem. We will provide updates as soon as the website is up and running. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.” the PSA said on their Facebook page.

In 2018, President Duterte signed into law Republic Act No. 11055 or the Act Establishing the Philippine Identification System.

In January, Duterte himself registered for the Philippine Identification System and received his national ID card in March.

In October 2020, the pre-registration process for the national ID began with low-income households as initial targets.

The PSA aims to register 70 million individuals in the PhilSys by the end of this year, according to PSA Asec. Rose Bautista.
