34 bricks of suspected cocaine recovered off Surigao del Sur coast
MANILA, Philippines — Thirty-four bricks of suspected cocaine were fished out of the sea off the coast of Surigao del Sur early Sunday.
According to the police report, two fishermen reported to local authorities about the bricks they had seen along the seawaters of Purok Santan, Brgy Bungtod, Tandag City in Surigao del Sur.
The provincial crime laboratory then conducted an inventory of the recovered substance. They noted that the bricks had dollar signs similar with those recovered in Dinagat Islands.
The bricks of suspected cocaine were then brought to the Police Regional Office 13 headquarters for further examination by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and for proper disposition.
Philippine National Police Spokesperson Senior Supt. Bernard Banac, meanwhile, noted that the bricks recovered in Surigao del Sur is the eighth recovery since February 10 when cocaine worth P5.4 million was fished out from the waters off the coast of Vinzons town in Camarines Norte. /je
