Man gunned down in Manila drug sting

A 49-year old who was suspected to be a drug pusher, was killed during a buy bust operation in Sampaloc, Manila early Wednesday morning.

Police said suspect Roberto Lumibao Bores was gunned down during the drug sting along Antipolo Street near Simoun Street at around 12:10 a.m.

The suspect reportedly noticed that his buyer was an undercover police officer and rushed back to his house from where he started firing at the police officers, said a police report.

Bores was rushed to the nearby Ospital ng Sampaloc but was declared dead on arrival. A police officer was also injured during the shootout, police said.

Recovered at the scene was a .38 caliber revolver with five bullets and a spent shell. Also recovered were seven spent shells from a 9 millimeter pistol, the marked P500 used in the bust, and three plastic sachets containing suspected shabu.  /muf
