DIGOS CITY -- Two persons drowned in a beach in Barangay (Village) Dawis here Sunday morning.

The logbook of the Davao del Sur provincial hospital, where the victims were brought, identified them as 30-year-old Antonio Mangyaw and 37-year-old Marlito Dungog, both residents of the village of Malabuan in Makilala, North Cotabato.

The victims were part of a group celebrating the birthday party of a relative when they drowned around 11:30 a.m., hospital authorities said.

The companions of the victims managed to pluck them out of the water and rushed them to the government-run hospital but they later died.
