MANILA, Philippines ? The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency has refused to release a statement confirming or denying that the daughter of one of its officials was abducted and raped over the weekend, stressing that details remained hazy as of this time.
?Let?s wait for clear details on this issue before we can issue a proper statement,? said PDEA spokesman Derrick Carreon in an interview on Monday.
He added that the agency would respect the privacy of the supposed drug agent and his family.
?Let?s wait for him to issue a statement on the matter,? Carreon said, but stressing that he did not know who the official was or if the reports were accurate.
A Philippine Daily Inquirer report on Sunday said the daughter of the official was reportedly abducted, drugged, and found sexually abused near a military facility in Luzon.
The girl is currently undergoing treatment.
Sketchy reports said that the incident occurred in Baguio City, but city police officer-in-charge Superintendent Nestor Bergonia said his office has yet to receive a report of the incident at this time.
?I am coordinating with all my men and with the PDEA to check if the incident occurred here,? he said over the phone.
Bergonia said the PDEA in Cordillera region is currently investigating the incident.
?As of this time, it?s unconfirmed if the incident occurred here,? he said.
