More LGUs cancel face-to-face classes due to intense summer heat

MANILA, Philippines — More local government units announced the suspension of face-to-face classes and instead shifted to distance learning for Thursday due to the threat of sizzling hot temperatures.
Below is the list of areas where in-person classes are suspended:

Metro Manila
- Pasay City – All levels (public and private), May 2 to 3
- Navotas City – All levels (public and private), May 2 to 3
- Caloocan City – Kindergarten to senior high school (public), May 2 to 3
- Las Piñas City – All levels (public), May 2 to 3
- Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Muntinlupa – May 2 only
Cavite
- Imus – All levels (public and private), May 2 to 4
- Cavite City – All levels (public and private)
- Rosario – Preschool to senior high school (public and private), May 2 to 4
- Tanza – Kindergarten to senior high school (public), May 2 to 4
- Ternate – All levels (public and private), May 2 to 3
- Trece Martires City –All levels (public and private), May 2 to 4
- Dasmariñas City, Cavite – All levels (public and private), May 2 to 4
Laguna
- Cabuyao City – Elementary and secondary (public and private), May 2 to 4
- Calamba – Preschool to senior high school (public and private), May 2 to 3
- San Pedro – All levels (public), May 2 to 4
- Santa Rosa, Laguna – Elementary and secondary (public and private), May 2 to 3
Rizal
- Taytay – Kindergarten to Grade 12 (public), May 2 to 3
- Cardona – All levels (public), May 2 to 3
- Cainta – All levels (public), May 2 to 3
- Morong, Rizal – All levels (public and private), May 2 to 3
Bulacan
- Calumpit- Elementary and secondary (public)
- Angeles City – All levels (public and private)
Cagayan Valley
- Santiago City – Child development centers and learning centers (public)

The City of Manila has earlier announced a suspension of in-person classes for May 2 to 3 in all public schools in elementary and high schools, as well as in Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila and Universidad de Manila.
According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration’s heat index forecast for May 2, the heat index in Metro Manila may reach up to 43 degrees celsius.
