MANILA, Philippines -- A 55-year-old midwife was found dead inside the toilet of a motel room in Pasay City Friday morning.

Senior Superintendent Raul Petrasanta, city police chief, said the body of Evangeline Sol-Cruz, of 19 Gold Street, Barangay San Dionisio, Parañaque City, was discovered by roomboy Melvin Quinto of Rotonda Lodge at the corner of EDSA and Taft Avenue around 8:30 a.m.

Petrasanta said the woman apparently committed suicide by hanging herself with a nylon cord inside the toilet of Room 417.

He said they were still checking on the veracity of the alleged suicide note found near the victim’s body.
