Drug trade suspect killed by cops while resisting arrest in Bohol

PANGLAO, Bohol — A suspected drug trader was shot and killed by policemen after he resisted arrest during a buy-bust operation in Panglao town, Bohol province, on Monday, police said.

Cloyde Loreniana Quijada, 38, a resident of Barangay (village) Danao here, suffered a fatal bullet wound in the head, said PO1 Rommel Villareal of the Panglao Police Station.

He said the suspect drew his gun, prompting policemen to engage him in a firefight during the operation on Purok 7 in Barangay Danao at 2:35 p.m.

Villareal said Quijada was number two on their watchlist as a level two drug pusher in Panglao town, a popular destination in the province.

Recovered from the slain suspect was a .38-caliber pistol and ammunition, P500 marked money, three big sachets of suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) and several drug paraphernalia.

The death of Quijada came nine days after a suspected top drug pusher, Rico Hernani, was killed in an alleged shootout with the Panglao police on June 18.

The Bohol Provincial Police Office said  Panglao was in their list of 10 areas  in Bohol infiltrated by the illegal drugs trade.  SFM
