Man nabbed for suspected murder of wife, mother-in-law in Bulacan
CITY OF MALOLOS—Police last Sunday caught up with a man who is suspected to have murdered his wife and mother-in-law last Friday.
Rommel Layug was arrested at the Metropolitan Medical Center in Sta. Cruz, Manila, where he was being treated for poisoning following a suspected suicide attempt.
Layug was the principal suspect in the shooting death of his wife Gloria, 29, a vacationing migrant worker stationed in Japan, and his 68-year-old mother-in-law Norma Camposano, at their home in Agatha Subdivision last Friday afternoon.
Layug was brought to the hospital by a room boy of a Sta. Cruz hotel where the suspect was billeted. Layug tried to kill himself by swallowing muriatic acid, said Supt. Arwin Tadeo, Malolos chief of police, on Monday.
Lawyer Rommel de Leon, Malolos deputy city prosecutor, formally charged Layug for parricide and murder at the hospital.
The police said Layug was kicked out of their home by Gloria over an argument. Gloria, who arrived home last Jan. 22, was scheduled to fly back to Japan when she was killed. RAM
