7 areas placed under state of calamity
MANILA, Philippines—Five Luzon provinces, a town and a city in Metro Manila badly hit by Typhoon “Glenda” (international name: Rammasun) have been placed under a state of calamity, state television reported.
This after fierce wind toppled trees and electric posts and ripped off roofs in the provinces of Bataan, Albay, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur and Cavite. Muntinlupa City and Gumaca town, in Quezon were also under a state of calamity.
The Department of Trade and Industry imposed a 60-day price freeze on basic consumer goods in the areas under state of calamity.
