8 nabbed for stealing motorcycles in Tacloban
MANILA, Philippines – Eight civilians were arrested after stealing motorcycles in Tacloban City, which bore the brunt of Supertyphoon “Yolanda” (international name: Haiyan).
Police Director Carmelo Valmoria of the Philippine National Police Special Action Force (PNP-SAF) identified the suspects as Jason Galague, Belmar Ronda, Regine Galaingdan, Rexon Sadanao, Efren Paca, Salcito Sabanao, Nestor Sabanao, and Bienvenido Galange.
Valmoria said the suspects stole four motor vehicles — a Boxer CT, Mio Yamaha, Suzuki and Kawasaki. Police caught the suspects in Magsaysay Boulevard, Balyuhan Town in downtown Tacloban.
Reports said homeless and hungry residents resorted to looting as the devastated town slowly recovered from the strongest storm to ever make landfall.
For proper disposition, the suspects and the motorcycles were put under the custody of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, the PNP-SAF chief said.
