Games Wednesday:
Cebu Coliseum
5:15 p.m. – UV vs. SHS-J AdC (jrs.)
6:45 p.m. – UC vs. USPF (srs.)

The league’s powerhouses continued their purge of the rest of the field as the University of Cebu (UC), the University of the Visayas (UV) and Southwestern University (SWU) posted easy victories in the seniors division of the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (CESAFI) basketball tournament at the Cebu Coliseum.

Yesterday, the UV Green Lancers utilized their heft and height advantage in the fourth period to hack out a 68-54 win over the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) Panthers. Bullstrong forward Edrian Lao scored UV’s first six points in the final frame that anchored an 8-2 run which turned a 45-40 lead into a 53-42 advantage.

The Panthers actually were down, 15-32, at halftime, but fought valiantly with a 20-4 run that got them within just five. However, that was as close as they would get with lefty guard John Abad eventually sealing the win with consecutive three-pointers which gave them a 64-45 lead with 3:55 left in the game.
