MANILA, Philippines – The National Capital Region Police Office deployed additional police forces in “crime prone areas” in Metro Manila in a bid to reduce street crimes by at least 50 percent, NCRPO Regional Director Marcelo Garbo Jr. said Thursday.

Garbo said all district directors were asked to focus on Monumento, Caloocan; Baclaran, Pasay; University Belt Area Convergence (U-BAC); Kalentong, Shaw Boulevard, Mandaluyong City; and EDSA corner E. Rodriguez Avenue, Aurora Boulevard, Cubao, Quezon City.

He said the additional forces would boost anti-criminality operations, ensure quick response, and improve crime prevention and solution.

Garbo also required all commanders to account all crimes and be accurate in reporting statistics and crime trend analysis that could be used to fight crime.

Handy collapsible police outposts will also be set up in crime prone areas so that police officers would be able to serve even during rainy days.

Garbo also sought the cooperation of the public by being alert and cautious with their personal belongings when mingling in crowded areas, reporting any security concern and providing information that may lead to the speedy resolution or prevention of crime.
