SHS-AdC 5 wins opener

THE defending national champions Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) Magis Eagles kicked off their title defense in high gear after they walloped the Christian Values School of Cavite, 97-28, in the 2013 National Basketball Training Center High School Basketball Championships yesterday at the Philsports Arena.

Just like last year, wherein they were just in a class all on their own, the Cebuanos established their dominance early on and never looked back.

Rendell Senining paced the reigning Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) juniors champions with 18 points followed by Jan Jaboneta with 14 markers. Lucky Ecarma and Fletcher Galvez also had 12 each.

Still, NBTC Cebu director and juniors head coach Rommel Rasmo said the road ahead remains long and treacherous, especially with the presence of the Manila powerhouse squads such as San Beda, Hope Christian and National University. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
